Things to Do in Pryor Before or After RVing to the 2022 Born & Raised Music Festival

Catch a Big Bass at Lake Hudson

Just 10 minutes away from Pryor is one of Oklahoma’s top three bass-fishing lakes, Lake Hudson. Besides bass, you can also catch bluegills, sunfish, white crappies, black crappies, paddlefish, and a variety of catfish. Mmmm … nothing like freshly caught fish on the grill. You can also meander the beautiful shoreline and take in the sights. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot a bald eagle.

Visit Rabbit Gallery

Oklahomans are rightly proud of the state’s deep Native American heritage, and Rabbit Gallery, in downtown Pryor, celebrates Cherokee art. Owned and operated by artist Traci Rabbit, the gallery showcases not only her works but also those of her late father, Bill Rabbit, the revered Cherokee artist. Be sure to visit the gift shop, which is full of unique objects.

Grab a Pizza & Some Craft Beer at Fat Toad Brewing

Pryor is proud of its hometown craft brewery, Fat Toad. On tap, there might be a stout, or a porter, or a Kolsch special of the month, besides their impressive lineup of IPAs, ales, and German witbiers. Kick back on the patio, or relax in the taproom, watching some football.  Split an appetizer while debating about which of their wood-fired pizzas you want to feast on. (They even offer gluten-free crusts.)

Visit Tulsa Before or After RVing to the 2022 Born & Raised Music Festival

Visit the Newly Opened Gathering Place

After an exciting (and noisy) music festival, you might be feeling a little spent. The Gathering Place riverfront park is just the place to recharge. Rent a kayak or canoe and paddle around Peggy’s Pond. Join a game of basketball at the SemGroup Sports Court. Or grab a quiet bite at the Boathouse, with views of the Arkansas River, beautiful downtown Tulsa, and Peggy’s Pond. As a result, you’ll feel refreshed.

Grab an Oklahoma-Brewed Craft Beer

The Sooner State is experiencing a craft beer boom, and some of the best can be found in Tulsa. Dead Armadillo Craft Brewing offers a buzz-worthy experience. While the taproom doesn’t have a kitchen, it is served by food trucks — you’ll find them just outside. Other options are American Solera, which offers a taproom next to its brewery, and Marshall Brewing Company.

Take Her to the Zoo

Tulsa’s world-class zoo houses more than 400 species. So, check out the Hardesty Snow Leopard Habitat, or ogle magnificent lions at the Large Cat Grottos. Visit the immersive Tropical Rain Forest, home to monkeys, reptiles, birds, and even jaguars. Or walk into The Robert J. LaFortune WildLIFE Trek Life in the Water, an aquarium-type attraction.

Learn About Tulsa’s Past at the Tulsa Historical Museum

Tulsa’s past is rich with history, including its past as the land of the Lochapoka Creek nation, oil booms and busts, the 1924 race massacre that destroyed Black Wall Street, and much more. The Tulsa Historical Museum itself has a historical home — the former Sam Travis Mansion. Eight rotating exhibits focusing on Tulsa’s fascinating past are inside. Outside are the Vintage Gardens and Five Moons. The Five Moons is a tribute to five renowned Native American ballet dancers who broke the European racial barrier in ballet. The Gardens offer a refreshing respite in nature, plus various historical objects representing Tulsa’s past.
