A New Energy Saving Tool For Your RV

Saving Energy In Your RV Just Got Cooler

Terms like “Green,” “sustainable,” “eco-friendly,” and “carbon footprint” have become common and a large majority of people are aware of them and make them part of their regular vocabulary and even lifestyle. This has pushed technology companies to develop new machines, new tools using better materials and to use less energy, use energy more efficiently and also make our lives better while being even better stewards for our environment.

there are millions of Americans who already practice forms of outdoor adventure escapism—whether on mountain bike or kayak, by foot or by horseback, from the Grand Tetons to the Appalachian Trail—all of whom could potentially become future RV renters and buyers. RVs use of energy and electricity needs to be considered when renting or buying an RV. Average use for a typical RVer is around 20 kWh a day. This comes out to about 608 kWh a month or 7,300 kWh a year. Usage will be lower during fair weather and higher during heating and cooling seasons.

Some energy saving tips include:

  1. Adding extra insulation, fill in any holes or gaps.
  2. Place a skirting around the bottom of the RV to prevent extreme hot or cold air from blowing underneath the RV and impacting the internal temperatures.
  3. Close off areas you won’t be in.
  4. Use fans to circulate air.
  5. Use shades and window blinds.
  6. Cover skylights.

A new energy efficient technology recently introduced is from a company named Energy Shield Systems, a Phoenix Arizona based company which manufactures essential coating products with the highest grade, state of the art acrylic and silicone polymer resins to be used over existing roof surfaces.

This technology has been used for commercial roofs already but this company now provides ceramic and silicone coatings to RV’s which allow them to stay cooler in hotter climates. These products allow the following advantages:

SILICONE COATINGS

  1. TERRIFIC PONDING WATER RSISTANCE
  2. 1 OR 2 COAT APPLICATION
  3. EXCELLENT WEATHERING
  4. FAST SET TIME
  5. FAST LABOR TIME
  6. EASY TO REPAIR
  7. LONGTERM ECONOMICAL ROOF SYSTEM
  8. LOW (VOC) VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS
  9. EXCELLENT DURABILITY
  10. KEEPS RV MUCH COOLER ON THE INSIDE

CERAMIC COATINGS

  1. BLOCKS SUN’S RAYS AND PREVENTS RV ROOF FROM BECOMING A HEAT SINK
  2. PREVENTS MOISTURE PENETRATION AND AIR INFILTRATION OVER A SURFACE
  3. RELECTS 95% OF RADIATION SOURCES
  4. IT IS ENERGY STAR QUALIFIED AS A 20-YEAR ROOF COATING
  5. BARE ALUNIMUM RV IN DENVER BAKE TO 144 DEGREES ON A MODERATELY WARM DAY, BUT MEASURES ONLY 54 DEGREES AFTER IT’S COATED
  6. HAS A CLASS A FIRE RATING AND IS ALSO ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE
  7. IT’S A WATER BASE NON-TOXIC COATING AND WHEN APPLIED IS ONLY 0.254 MILS THICK PER COAT WHICH ACTS LIKE 6 TO 7 INCHES OF INSULATION

So if you are looking to add an upgrade to your RV, you will want to consider the long term benefit of having a roof coating from Energy Shield Systems for your RV.
