10 Most Romantic Places In The US For Valentine’s Day 2023
Solvang, California
This little known city in California is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before— in the US, that is!
Located in the Santa Ynez Valley, Solvang is decorated with Danish-inspired architecture and shops. In fact, the little city is almost entirely formed in the style of a European village. The result is a laidback Californian atmosphere that melds perfectly with the unique architecture and customs.
However, its eccentricity isn’t the only reason why it makes our list of the most romantic places in the US. The European-inspired bakeries serve up traditional Danish pastries and meals that are to die for, and you won’t find them in many other places across the country. A stroll through the city after brunch will also take you past six windmills and several wineries where you can sample the tastes of Santa Barbara counties numerous vineyards.
Solvang’s one of a kind features and delicious bakeries make it a perfect place to spend your Valentine’s Day.

Kennebunkport, Maine
Famously put on the map outside of New England as the summer home of the Bush family, Kennebunkport is as charming of a small Maine town as they come. The coastal retreat is full of quaint, rustic allure in all of its buildings and streets. During your visit, it’s important that you must try out the region’s famous salt water taffy and fudge shops!
As a romantic destination in the Northeast, your days will be spent riding bikes along the waterfront. At night, enjoy some of the best seafood in the world caught fresh from the city’s ports. And of course, there are lighthouses and beaches to explore, or it wouldn’t be coastal Maine!
As a winter destination, there’s still plenty to take in, but without the large crowds of spring and summer. As it turns out, the cold only makes the restaurants and shops lovelier and more inviting.

Aspen, Colorado
Perhaps no other city in the US is more built for winter vacations than Aspen, Colorado. The valley of numerous mountains is bathed in a warm, golden glow during the cold nights like a real life wonderland. Curling up beside your loved one with a mug of hot chocolate is an amazing way to spend Valentine’s Day.
Though it goes without saying, the slopes of Aspen are some of the best in the US for winter sports. Although snowing and skiing are the most popular draws to the city, you don’t have to be an avid skier to enjoy Aspen. Nighttime tubing is a blast! Snowshoe and snowmobile tours of the mountains bring you to incredible views without having to come down on a snowboard. And Alpine coasters or curling rinks are fun for the entire family.
As if the outdoors of Aspen isn’t a draw all on its own, the fabulous high-end restaurants and boutiques will woo you even more. Cap off your day on the slopes with a romantic, candlelit dinner. Although there are many amazing restaurants in Aspen, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention Pine Creek Cookhouse. The winter menu is second to none, but half the joy of dining there is getting there!
The remote restaurant, which features extraordinary views of the Elk Mountains, you can only access the location by either snowshoe or horse-drawn carriage!

Honeymoon Island State Park, Florida
Away from the high season crowds of Miami and West Palm Beach, Honeymoon Island is equally as beautiful and with a fraction of the crowds. Though it doesn’t exactly have hidden gem status in Florida, it’s lesser known to snowbirds. And being north of Clearwater Beach, you’ll avoid those crowds too. This makes it a great warm weather destination for couples looking to enjoy all of the benefits of Florida’s gorgeous coastline with a little more privacy.
The barrier island is located across from Dunedin and Palm Harbor. There, five miles of pristine, white sand beaches await you during your romantic getaway. The island is easy to get to by the Dunedin Causeway, and you’ll be able to stay until 5:30-9:30 pm (depending on the time of year).
Honeymoon Island also offers ferry service to nearby Caladesi Island, where you can swim at one of the most beautiful beaches in America, Caladesi Beach.
What makes Caladesi Island so wonderful is that it’s only accessible by boat or Honeymoon Island’s ferry. Because there’s a four hour limit on how much time you can spend at Caladesi, it makes for a perfect half of a day trip spent on the islands. The ferry connecting them only takes 15 minutes and costs $18 round trip!

Napa Valley, California
Our list of the most romantic places in the US wouldn’t be complete without its most famous wine country, Napa Valley. The rolling golden hills of the region are one of the most idyllic pastures in America, and the setting is perfect for romance!
When you visit Napa or Sonoma during the winter, it’s true that you won’t receive the same splendor from the vineyards as you would during spring and summer. But that being said, the hills and vines are still beautiful in the off season. Plus, if you’re super lucky, you’ll catch the vineyards after light snowfall for a view that’s entirely unique from the rest of the year, and just as beautiful.
Although the vineyards themselves won’t be in their bloom, that doesn’t mean that the wineries aren’t still every bit as delectable! Tastings and indoor tours run year round, and have a cozy atmosphere that you won’t get in the summer.
Furthermore, you don’t have to be a wine connoisseur at all to enjoy Napa Valley. With dozens of boutique restaurants and shops, and an average temperature of 58°, you’ll still get your money’s worth of excellent— and romantic— things to do all season long.

Sedona, Arizona
When thinking of Sedona, two things come to mind: red rocks and spas. The city and its surroundings are simultaneously sprightly and relaxing in equal measures. And for both of those reasons, it makes our list of the most romantic places in the US.
The red rocks of Sedona need no introduction. The formations of Cathedral Rock and Devil’s Bridge are among the most breathtaking sights in the entire world. The ochre hues of the desert, the lush green of its flora, and the vibrant blue sky make for vistas like no other. Though there are many grand rock formations in the Northwest, there’s just something about Sedona’s landscape that’s extra special.
As a backdrop for a romantic getaway, it’s completely transportive. To be able to view the formations and vastness of the wilderness with our loved ones is a gift we shouldn’t take lightly.
After your hike through the formations, your next stop with your partner will be to the dreamlike spas of downtown Sedona. Overlooking the rust colored mountains in the distance, the spa resorts of the city will refresh your tired muscles while you continue to experience the setting’s lovely vistas. A couple’s massage is the perfect way to end an amazing day in the desert.

Willamette Valley, Oregon
Though Napa Valley steals much of the thunder from the West Coast winery scene, Oregon’s Willamette Valley is no less beautiful. And, most importantly, no less outstanding in the quality of its vineyards.
The region begins about an hour outside of Portland and is home to a whopping 700 wineries. The landscape is similar to Napa, with lush green and gold hills criss-crossed by gentle rivers. And also like Napa, you don’t need to be a wine buff whatsoever to appreciate the Willamette Valley’s beauty.
Although the fine dining and robust craft beer scene in the Valley are other excellent reasons to make the trip, the best feature of the area is one best experienced in cold weather. A drive along the Aufderheide Scenic Byway will bring you to the lagoons of the Terwilliger Hot Springs. For a Valentine’s Day or anniversary like no other, spend it in the steam of the thermal waters in Willamette Valley.

New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans in February is a feast for the senses. If you’re able to visit on Fat Tuesday, during the start of Mardi Gras, you’ll be part of a celebration like no other in the country. The parades and parties that overflow from the streets and inside of restaurants and bars are second to none.
As a bucket list event and destination city for many, New Orleans is a wonderfully romantic place to visit even without Mardi Gras. Its city lights and jazz clubs bring people to the Big Easy from around the world. But the Cajun cuisine and the gorgeous architecture of the French Quarter are still only parts of the reason why you should visit New Orleans for your romantic getaway.
The garden district of the city is filled with all of the mysterious, gothic charm that one of its most famous residents imbued into her works. Whether you’re a fan of the Vampire Chronicles or not, the legacy of Ann Rice’s creations as staples of the horror and romance genres is undeniable. As you walk along the streets of the garden district, you can truly get a sense for the mysticism that sets the scene in famous works like Interview with a Vampire.
Take a stroll through the oak-lined streets and tour some of the lavish, Victorian mansions with your partner for your next romantic trip.

San Antonio Hot Springs, New Mexico
Our list of the most romantic places in the US finishes with a hidden gem in the Southwest.
San Antonio Hot Springs is a unique, secluded destination located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico. The hot springs of its name are fed by a natural geothermal aquifer, and are renowned for their healing properties. Visitors can soak in the hot springs while enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
At the springs, you can choose from several different pools, each with varying temperatures and water depths. Temperatures in New Mexico during February range from the low to high 50s. The mild weather makes this month especially one of the best times of the year to experience the waters while they have a truly warming effect.
