RVnGO to the NASCAR Off-Road Expo in Arizona
Why Go TO The Off Road Expo?
This year, the Off-Road Expo Arizona will be happening on the weekend of September 11-12, 2021 at the world-class, ultra-modern ISM Phoenix Raceway, formerly known as (P.I.R.) in Avondale.
NASCAR fans can expect to be dazzled by the massive renovations on the PIR, which were completed in 2018 including the new name. You’ll be treated to a broad array of events and amenities, apart from the mile-long oval racing track.
The 2021 NASCAR Off-Road Expo brings together stakeholders from the entire industry chain – gear and equipment manufacturers, off-road companies, and spare part manufacturers. You can expect a show like no other, thanks to a bursting itinerary of activities, from rock crawling and off-road racing (oh yeee-aah!!) to camping and adventure travel, among tons more. To get in the off road spirit check out these EPIC Off Road Vehicles.
Attendees of the Off-Road Expo get to interact with the industry experts of the off-road industry. Bring all those questions that have been bugging you, and don’t forget your fun boots for all the activities.
If you’re going to be part of this exciting experience, be sure to book your tickets early. Tickets are super affordable – just $16 for adults and $6 for children from 3-12 years. You can get them online by clicking here.
Of course, it makes sense to rent an RV from RVnGO and make a whole experience out of your NASCAR trip. Travel in comfort and style to the Off-Road Expo, and set aside a few days before or after to enjoy the rich Arizona sights and experiences.
Arizona is a popular RV road trip destination, and it has dozens of RV-friendly accommodations. Check out these five RV-friendly stops and some fun activities for you and your travel companions.
Hike at the Grand Canyon National Park
The impressive Grand Canyon rightly begins our list, as it is one of the most acclaimed national parks in the USA. Stretching over 277 miles alongside the Colorado River and covering over 1 million acres, you can enjoy the canyon from various points, depending on your starting point before reaching the Off-Road Expo.
The South Rim is open all year round, but check before heading for the North Rim, which is usually closed for the winter – yes, there’s snow in Arizona!
You don’t have to be a geologist to appreciate the Grand Canyon’s rock formations – hundreds of shades of copper with caves and crevices that baffle the mind. If your travel buddies are feeling courageous, pack your hiking boots and go down one of the many trails.
The Bright Angel Trail stretches 9.5 miles and leads to the Colorado River, Indian Gardens, and Tonto Beach. Or choose one of the shorter trails with easier access, such as the Yaki and Yavapai viewpoints.
You’ll also find off-road activities, guided tours for whitewater rafting, backpacking, and hiking. For more family-friendly fun, use the ranger-guided programs to have a breezy tour and learn about the local culture and geology.
Where to Stay
There are tons of camping grounds on-site where your RV Rental can rest for the night. The Trailer Village has a full RV hookup and sits within the Grand Canyon Village. You can also park at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park for more modern comfort like wireless internet and cable TV.

Spend Time at the Petrified Forest National Park
Don’t be surprised when you get to the Petrified Forest National Park, because you won’t find the tall trees you’re used to seeing in national parks. While incomparable to the magnificence of the Grand Canyon, this destination still earns its place on our list because of its scenic stone log fragments.
Schedule ample time for the Painted Desert Visitor Center that’s open all year round. Learn more about the park from a short film, enjoy hands-on exhibitions, and take a short walking trail that highlights the points of interest at the park.
Finally, drive your RV 28 miles through the park and enjoy breathtaking views of the Painted Desert, including the vibrant hues of petrified wood. Come armed with your camera – you’ll find dozens of wallpaper-worth scenes!
Where to Stay
The Holbrook Petrified Forest KOA campsite is near the park entrance and includes free Wi-Fi and a seasonal pool, among other amenities. Check out the Sun Valley RV Resort or OK RV Park if you want something different.
Drive through the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City
Did you sing ‘London Bridge’ in nursery school? Well, that London Bridge, once on the Thames River in London, was built in Lake Havasu City! In 1967, pieces of the centuries-old London Bridge were dismantled and sold to one Robert McCulloch. He brought them to the USA and reassembled them on the Colorado River in Lake Havasu City.
Live out this vital part of history by strolling unguided on this famous bridge, or take a 90-minute walking tour for just $10. When you’re done, enjoy some family-friendly in Arizona’s Playground, as Lake Havasu City is known.
Before attending the Off-Road Expo in Phoenix, tour through historic sites, go hiking on some trails, take hot air balloon rides, and even play golf in the city’s expansive teeing grounds. Alternatively, relax in one of the white sandy beaches or go kayaking, off-roading, boating, or fishing along the Colorado River waterways, which span more than 60 miles.
Where to Stay
The Campbell Cove RV Resort offers breathtaking views of Lake Havasu, making it a popular destination for RV travelers. You can also sojourn at the Crazy Horse Campgrounds, found near the London Bridge.
Explore the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix
Once you get to Phoenix, make time to experience the amazing flora grown painstakingly at the Desert Botanical Garden. For a desert, the biodiversity of Arizona will leave you tongue-tied. The DBG includes over 50,000 trees, flowers, and cacti from all over the world, spread over 55 acres.
The DBG’s stroller-friendly trails are perfect for families traveling together, but lovers can also find plenty to enjoy on these trails. You can explore the garden’s trails at your own pace or participate in a more structured program depending on the time you have.
When you’re done, visit at least one of Phoenix’s popular museums, especially if you’re traveling with school-going children. The Arizona Science Center and the Phoenix Art Museum are excellent starting points.
Where to Stay
You can park your RV Rental at the Covered Wagon RV Park or Desert Shadows RV Park campgrounds.
Drive Down the Iconic Route 66
No Arizona RV road trip would be complete without a drive through the most iconic highway in the country, the Will Rogers Highway, or Route 66, as we know it.
Of course, you won’t travel the entire 2,448 miles from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, California, but you will get to enjoy some of the most scenic stretches of this major highway. Arizona is home to the longest stretch of this famed highway.
It might all work out since you can veer off Route 66 to enjoy some of the sights Arizona offers. Most notably, you can get to the Petrified Forest National Park, Lake Havasu City, and the Grand Canyon National Park. Remember to blast your speakers with a tailored Route 66 playlist to enrich your experience.
Where to Stay
Depending on where you start and end your journey, there are hundreds of RV stops and campgrounds in the 400-mile Arizonian stretch of Route 66. If you end up in Flagstaff City, stop by the Museum Club and spend the night at Flagstaff KOA or the Greer’s Pine Shadows RV Park.

How to Choose Your RV
Don’t know which one is better for you? Check out our comparison guide to decide between Class A and Class C RVs, two of the most popular RVs among travelers. Or you can go off and order a completely different type if want – it’s that easy!
There are two critical factors to think of when renting your RV: needs and budget. Even among these classes, RV rental prices can vary greatly.
Think about the size of your party and select an RV with enough space for you all. Class C RVs are usually smaller and are ideal if you have a smaller party.
Class A RVs are larger and offer more luxurious features, ideal for parties of 8 or more passengers. It’s worth mentioning that you need more experience to drive a Class A RV, given that it’s larger.
