Time to Cruise America and We List Our 8 Great Vacation Areas

There’s nothing better than exploring nature, reconnecting, and seeing the sights across the U.S. Now that the stresses of the COVID-19 pandemic are finally starting to wane, people are anxious to get back out there and explore  our vacation areas again.

In a survey, 91% of participants said that they planned to take a 2022 road trip with 83% of those people opting to take campervans or RV vacations specifically. But if you don’t own an RV, there are other options available like an RV rental service.

Person to Person RV rentals allow you to use another person’s RV vehicle for your vacation, so you can still have all of the great benefits of RV vacations in a short-term rental. 79% of millennials are the most likely to rent from a Person to Person RV service.

If you’ve been thinking of renting an RV to cruise America for your next vacation but don’t know where to go, you’re in luck. In this post, we’ll give you 8 RV Vacation areas, ideas and must-see RV destinations. Keep reading below to find out more information.

1. Disney World- Orlando, FL

Disney World is arguably one of the most popular vacation destinations attracting 58 million visitors each year across the globe. But did you know that it’s also one of the top places for RV vacations?

Disney World has its own on-site campground for RVs called Fort Wilderness. The campground boasts an array of amenities including shuttles to the park, heated pools with waterslides, golf carts for rent, and early theme park entry. Camping in Florida is now even cooler.

These fully-equipped campsites feature everything you need with water and sewer, electrical, and cable television hookups for RVs up to 45 feet and 10 guests per site. Don’t like Disney? No worries, we found 10 fabulous Family Friendly alternatives.

2. Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is one of the top must-see RV vacation areas. These famous falls bridge the gap between the U.S. and Canada. Viewing the falls lit up at night is one of the feature attractions as well as visiting Niagara Falls National Park.

You can also take a ride on the famed Maid of the Mists boat to get an up-close view of the falls. Or take an elevator 175 feet down into the Niagara Gorge to see the Bridal Veil Falls.

The Ontario area is home to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, named for the smarter-than-average bear of the Hannah Barbera cartoons. This is one of the best RV destinations if you’re staying on the Canadian side of the falls. It’s open from May through October each year.

3. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park, located in the Western United States, sits on top of a dormant volcano. The 3,500 square mile wilderness recreation area stretches across Wyoming, and into parts of Montana and Idaho. The region is known for its lush forests, canyons, alpine rivers, and geysers.

It contains more geysers and hot springs than any other place on earth, including the famous geyser Old Faithful. The park is also home to antelope, wolves, bears, elk, and bison.

There are five campgrounds within the park, but the Fishing Bridge Campground is the only place with full hookups. Private campground options are available outside of the park but you’ll want to make reservations well in advance as this is one of the most popular destinations for RV vacations.

4. Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona is a sight to behold. Some travel from San Diego to the Grand Canyon. Others travel from Las Vegas. This grand excursion is on the list of must-see RV vacations for good reason. Its massive canyon contains layers of red rock that are millions of years old.

The canyon features a 277-mile-long segment of the Colorado River that runs nearly one mile deep and up to 18 miles wide. When you’re here, you can take ranger tours, experience river rafting, hike, and camp. Take a stroll along The Trail of Time, a 3-mile route that traces the Grand Canyon’s geological history and formation.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park has one campground with full hook-ups inside the park. It can accommodate RVs up to 50 feet in length and is open year-round, but you need to make your reservation at least 6 months in advance.

5. Zion National Park

Zion National Park, located in scenic Utah is another one of the must-visit RV vacations you need to see to believe. Zion contains some of the most famous hiking trails including Angel’s Landing. A chained ½ mile section of the trail sits on top of a 1,488-foot section of rock that is only a few feet wide in some areas.

Cars can’t drive through the park during peak season from March through November through the park, so you must take the shuttle to the different sites and trailheads. A shuttle is available starting at 7 am from the visitors’ center. While there are RV spaces within the park, no hookups are provided, so you’ll need to find a nearby campground and use the park’s shuttle.

The Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort offers the best RV camping near Zion, with spacious RV sites and other accommodations, along with a wide variety of activities. The Zion River Resort in Virgin, Utah also has full-hookup sites and resort-style amenities such as laundry facilities, a pool, and a hot tub.

6. Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park covers 1,583 square miles of wilderness in Montana’s Rocky Mountains for unforgettable RV vacations. It offers visitors views of glacier-carved peaks and valleys across 700 miles of hiking trails with opportunities for camping, cycling, and backpacking. View local wildlife including elk and deer, mountain goats, moose, grizzly bears, and more.

Glacier National Park is famous for its picturesque 52-mile Going-to-the-Sun Road. It takes you over the Continental Divide, providing postcard-quality views along the way.

The park only permits primitive camping inside with sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Flathead National Forest just outside the park offers dispersed camping. There are also several RV parks nearby with full hookups.

7. Redwood National and State Parks

Redwood National Park is home to some of the tallest trees in the world, towering in at over 300 feet. The park also encompasses 40 miles of coastland, as well as rivers, woodlands, and prairies for truly memorable RV vacations.

Notable park RV destinations are Tall Trees Grove as the best place to view the towering redwoods, Red Creek Overlook to see the sunset, and Elk Meadows to watch elk in the park.

Take a day trip to see the Avenue of the Giants. This 31-mile drive through the Humboldt Redwoods State Park is another of the most popular RV trip ideas for sightseeing.

The Del Norte Redwoods State Park is one of 4 parks in the National and State Parks with accommodations for RVs up to 31 feet for dry camping. The Ramblin’ Redwoods Campground is one of several RV destinations that provides 50-amp electric and full RV hookups.

8. Arches National Park

Arches National Park is one of 5 National Parks in Utah for RV vacations and is bordered by the Colorado River to the south. It contains more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including Delicate Arch and the Devils Garden. It also features unique sandstone formations such as Balanced Rock and The Three Gossips.

You can view many of these formations either by hiking or taking a car ride. You can also take pictures of the rock formations from one of several viewing overlooks.

The Moab Valley RV Resort is just a short drive from Arches National Park with bathrooms, showers, full hookups, a hot tub, and pet-friendly accommodations with a dog park. The Portal RV Resort is about a mile north of Moab and 3 miles to Arches. It has a pool with a hot tub and a small, fenced dog park with RV sites on level gravel.
