Grand Teton National Park Campgrounds
Grand Teton has a combined 8 total official campgrounds in the area. All spots require reservations so make sure to plan and reserve your camping spot well ahead of time. It is recommended that you reserve your spot about 6 months in advance. Not every campground is RV friendly but nearly all the campgrounds at Grand Teton are. The 8 campgrounds you will be able to reserve are:
- Gros Ventre Campground
- Jenny Lake Campground
- Signal Mountain Campground
- Colter Bay Campground
- Colter Bay RV Park
- Colter Bay Tent Village
- Lizard Creek Campground
- Headwaters Campground
RV Accessible Campgrounds
Every campground except for Jenny Lake Campground and Colter Bay Tent Village is RV accessible. These sites are reserved for tent camping so do not plan to reserve a spot with the intent to bring your RV along. However, that leaves you with plenty of other options. There are 6 campgrounds in total that allow RV reservations. Make sure you are reserving a spot for Gros Ventre, Signal Mountain, Colter Bay Campground or RV Park, Lizard Creek, or Headwaters Campground.
Gros Ventre
Gros Ventre is a campground located to the south of Grand Teton National Park. The campground consists of 279 Standard sites, 39 sites with electric hookup, and 4 group sites. The maximum length of stay at the campgrounds is 14 days. The campground also contains a limited dump station. The maximum length of RV vehicles allowed is 45 ft. Signal Mountain Campground
This campground is in an open lodgepole pine forest next to the Signal Mountain Lodge. Certain sites are near Jackson Lake so getting to the waters is more convenient. Campsites here include a great view of Mount Moran and the northern Teton Range. RVs up to 30 feet total length are accepted at the Signal Mountain Campground. This campground offers a wide variety of services and amenities including lodging, restaurants, showers, laundry, and a marina. Campers can stay a maximum of 14 days.
There are 81 total campsites on this campground with 4 being tent only. However, there are 25 electrical hookup sites, so RVs are welcomed. Cell-phone reception is available depending on your service provider and laundry, food lockers, and camp store are available seasonally.
Colter Bay Campground
This large campground at Teton National Park is great for both RV camping. Both motorized RVs and travel trailers are allowed at this developed campground. The maximum length for vehicles is 45 ft and 15 sites contain full electric hookups. You can stay a maximum of 14 nights at this campground. The Colter Bay Campground is located close to the shores of the Jackson lake and nearby the Hermitage Point Trailhead. Hikers can explore the nearby forest and meadows.
Colter Bay RV Park
The next RV camping campground at Grand Teton is the Colter Bay Campground. It offers similar benefits to the Signal Mountain Campground such as being near Jackson Lake and a great view of nearby mountain ranges. However, all sites here are RV only and offer full electric hookups. The maximum length for RVs at this campground is 45 ft.
Lizard Creek Campground
This rustic campground is in a remote part of Grand Teton National Park. The campground is 11 miles south of Yellowstone and eight miles north of Colter Bay Village providing easy access to both parks. The campsites are in a spruce and fir forest on the shores of Jackson Lake. RVs up to 30 ft in length and travel trailers up to 20 ft are allowed. However, keep in mind that there are no hookups at this campground. Vehicles cannot be over 8 feet high or 14 feet long. There is a limit of two tents per site. You can also have a maximum of one vehicle and six guests for up to 7 nights.
Headwaters Campground
The Headwaters campground features facilities for both tent campers and RV owners. Located within the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway, it is only a few miles away from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Wilderness surrounds the development and there are beautiful views of the Snake River. There are 34 tent sites, 97 full-hook RV sites, 3 horse corrals, 3 group camping areas with 16 tent pads, 2 group picnic pavilions (each with a large cooking fire ring), and 14 vault toilets. The max length for RVs is 45 ft and travel trailers are allowed.
Tent Camping
If all other spots are full and you would still like to visit without RV camping, there are plenty of tent-only spots available at Grand Teton.
Jenny Lake
This tent-only campground is located a few hundred yards from the east shore of Jenny Lake. The campground is covered in trees and lies on top of a glacial moraine. Across the lake, Teewinot Mountain, Cascade Canyon, and Mount St John are prominent. There are no trailers, campers, or generators allowed at this campground. Vehicles cannot be over 8 feet high, 14 feet long, or more than 12 feet wide.
Colter Bay Tent Village
The Colter Bay Tent Village sits in the shadow of a tall pine forest next to Jackson Lake. The Tent Village has 66 tent cabins that are open from May to September. As with all national parks, the Colter Bay Tent Village fills up quickly. Visitors are encouraged to book early or risk missing out.
Colter Bay is home to black and grizzly bears, moose, deer, elk, and other large animals, as well as marmots, foxes, bald eagles, and more. Being prepared for an animal encounter can help ensure your safety as well as that of the wildlife in this area.
General Campground Rules
Please follow all Grand Teton National Park regulations. A partial list may be found below. Other regulations apply.
- Food storage – all food and other items with an odor must be properly stored at all times
- Wildlife viewing – 100 yards minimum from bears and wolves, 25 yards from all others
- Campfires – must be contained within a metal fire grate
- Fireworks – banned on park grounds
- Drones (unmanned aircraft) – banned on park grounds
- Pets – must be on a leash that is no longer than 6 feet at all times within 30 feet of roadways. Pets are not allowed on the multi-use pathway, park trails, or in the backcountry.
