Epic RV Trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon

What 2 Destinations Makes A Great RV Road Trip?

If you’re considering renting an RV for an epic vacation, there’s no better trip to take than one between Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Both locations have their own amazing sites and activities. But it’s not just the two end locations that make this an ideal RV trip. It’s all the possibilities in the sites in between.

We’ll start the trip in Las Vegas. Whether you’re there for the fun shows, a little gambling, or the amazing food, Las Vegas is always a great time. Starting your trip with an RV means that you’ll save a little something on the expensive hotel.

Options for RVs in Las Vegas

You might not have known this, but there are some free options for RVs in Las Vegas. Walmart, for instance, offers free parking in their lots but you need to call the store ahead of time.

You also might consider a truck stop. Of course, free options mean absolutely no frills and you don’t have a reservation, which isn’t advisable in a place like Las Vegas where it can get very crowded.

There are also RV Parks in Las Vegas. We’ll give you a few below that offer a choice depending on the type of vacation you’re looking to have.

There are Different Routes to Take

The glorious thing about a trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon is the length of travel. No matter which part of the Grand Canyon you’d like to see, it’s a short drive straight through.

The South rim is under 300 miles from Las Vegas, so you should be able to make the drive in five hours or under. This means that you have ample opportunity to detour to other great places for a day or few hours, giving you a good deal more to experience than just those two locations.

The Grand Canyon itself is wondrous and there are different sites and things to do on each side. We’ll cover an RV park for each part of the Canyon, along with some excursions you might try on your way to any of the destinations.

Circus Circus Casino Hotel and RV Park

Circus Circus is all about the location. Even the advertising about the RV Park says “no-frills,” so you can be assured there are none. However, it is right on the strip. So if you’re in Las Vegas to enjoy the gambling and nightlife and care little about spending time in your campground while you’re there, this is a great spot for you.

They offer minimal amenities, like electricity and a laundromat. This can be confusing as Circus Circus Hotel & Casino is located within steps away from features such as The Adventuredome, a Midway Arcade with FREE daily Circus acts, award-winning restaurants, gaming and more. If you are looking for a Las Vegas camping experience complete with all the amenities, the RV Park at Circus Circus is the best place to stay!

Test Your Luck At The Las Vegas RV Resort

The Las Vegas RV Resort is close enough to the strip to offer a full Las Vegas vacation, but it’s far enough away to offer an RV vacation, too. You get the best of both worlds with this option. They boast some excellent amenities including a pool, spa, pet area, and meeting rooms.

Duck Creek RV Park

Further out still, Duck Creek is a great location for families who want to experience more than just the strip in Las Vegas. You get the best of the natural beauty of the state. There is space for grilling and picnicking and places to take your animals. Duck Creek has all the amenities you could want from an RV Park and it’s still close enough to get to the strip for a few hours or a day out.

Lake Mead RV Village

This one is out of the way, so you want to map your route ahead of time if you want to include it. Instead of giving you one RV park, we’re going to link to the Lake Powell area with a few choices of RV Parks.

The location is why we’re pointing it out. It’s one of the most beautiful areas in the state and Lake Powell itself is simply spectacular. A great place to go sightseeing, boating, or enjoy a wonderful meal.

The Grand Canyon Camper Village

This campground boasts being the only private and full-service campground within 20 miles of the National Park. You can also opt to stay within the National Park, but not all of those sites offer the same amenities and you might like to see some things outside of the Canyon.

This park boasts a fantastic atmosphere, and it’s a short drive to the National Park. You get a concierge, for a full vacation experience from your RV. It has all the amenities and they have a small shopping district with a theater, so there’s always something to do if you don’t want to spend the entire trip hiking.

This village also gets the National Park Trolley buses so that you can easily get back and forth to the National Park.

Trailer Village RV Park

Is staying outside of the Grand Canyon too far away? Then this is the RV Park for you. It’s located inside the National Park in Grand Canyon Village.

This campground fills up fast, so it’s a good idea to get reservations. It’s also open year-round and there are plenty of amazing activities to keep the entire family busy for days. You can hike, horseback ride, and take guided tours through the canyon. There are also ample places to shop and eat.

Indian Garden Campground

This campground is also in the Grand Canyon Village. This is an amazing little RV spot if you want a truly beautiful landscape. Indian Garden boasts a creek running right through it, and it’s surrounded by beautiful trees. It’s truly a nature lover’s perfect setting.

The campground is about 4.8 miles from the south rim of the canyon. Three miles away, you can also see the Colorado River. As the name suggests, this area was home to Native Americans long before it became a vacation spot. There are lush areas to enjoy and it offers a wonderful family-friendly environment.
