This episode (season 2 episode 6) of the RVers covers the Mortons on the Move’s action packed journey to Alaska, traveling with an RV caravan, and RV damage protection.
Morton’s RV Trip to Alaska
Cait and Tom Morton know what it means to take a long RV trip, and on this episode they talk about the highlights of their trip to Alaska. This action packed trip has it’s own web series by the Mortons called Go North, and is an amazing binge-watch.
On the RVers, Tom and Cait first cover some myths about driving up to Alaska. While there are many dirt highway systems you can reach Alaska by paved roads just fine. The Mortons took some famous dirt and gravel highways, like the Denali Highway. The dirt highways are much more remote and don’t have fuel stops for 100s of miles. The Mortons said they loved how immersed in nature they felt!
The Mortons made sure to hit a ton of national parks- the first being Denali. Denali National Park is home to the famous Mt. Denali- previously Mt. Mckinley. This mountain is so tall you wont see it without clouds or fog covering the summit! The next national park the Mortons visited is only reachable by air. The Katmai National Park is on a peninsula in Alaska and is totally separated from human civilization. Tom and Cait detail their adventures with bears, and the interesting habits they had. Because human interaction is so rare for animals there, they just carry on with their daily lives right in front of you. Going North sounds like a truly one of a kind adventure!
Traveling in a Group Caravan
On the Mortons trip to Alaska they spent time in a paid RV caravan. This exciting addition to the trip is how Cait spent her birthday. This new way of RVing allows you the comfort of traveling with a tour guide while not being totally restricted. On the “move days” of the itinerary you are able to go whichever way you like to the next location- this makes for time to see the stops you want to!
Tom and Cait also highlighted other benefits of caravan traveling. They loved the feeling of having friends and neighbors while out on an adventure. The caravan also has set activities planned which allowed them to see things they usually couldn’t, like having a private show at the aquarium they all went to. Think about a guided caravan on your next Rv adventure! It might make for the perfect RV getaway.
RV Damage Protection with FCIS
FCIS wrote the book on RV damage protection and on this episode of the RVers they talk about RV damage protection coverage. While RV damage protection is not the most interesting topic- its important to know where you stand with your damage protection company.
Unlike homeowners insurance, RVs have all the moving parts that make them so special, and unlike car insurance RVs have surrounding areas and living spaces when camping. Companies like FCIS are needed when you go RVing.
If you are a huge RV rental fan like everyone at RVnGO, you also need special renters protection. Luckily for anyone who uses RVnGO we have the best damage protection on the market.
