Jim and Mica’s Inspiring Story

For people who are disabled or only partially mobile, packing up your home and moving to an RV isn’t the first thing on your mind, but for Jim and Mica it is the perfect lifestyle. After their first RV trip they were hooked on the ease and comfort it allowed Jim to explore  the world.

Jim, who is partially mobile, finds that the narrow hallways in the RV and small layout offers for easier mobility, whether it be crawling or using a walker. His wife Mica also loves the freedom it allows Jim. They never need to use his wheelchair in the RV! In this episode Jim and Mica also show their prowess in setting up camp- even with a fold out porch. By assigning jobs and helping each other out, Jim and Mica inspire everyone on site.

Jim and Mica want to show everyone that disabilities aren’t an excuse or burden. This couple wants everyone to think about how to make the most out of their situation. More importantly this couple wants to tell everyone tp go RVing!

RV Geeks Show Off Their Solar Power

Peter and John are the RV Geeks and on this episode of the RVers, they show off their impressive solar panel setup. On the top of their Class A RV are both flexible and rigid solar panel units.  On this segment Peter and John discuss how to equip your RV in order to boondock. Boondocking is basically just RVing without an RV campsite or full power or sewer hookups- perfect for a true nature getaway.

The RV Geeks suggest auditing your RV before looking into a solar panel setup. This means running your RV for a day and seeing how much amp hours you use. Once you know this, you can purchase the correct size battery bank and know how many solar panels you’ll need!

Solar Panels at Xantrex

Xantrex is a speciatly solar company that creates solar panels for RV, boats, buses, and other specialty vehicles. At the Xantrex office Peter and John from the RV Geeks explore the difference between flexible and rigid solar panels.

Flexible solar panels are the newer version and much easier to install. Peter and John show this and their easy peel & stick application. They have many benefits including:

  • Easy application
  • No drilling into the roof- better waterproofing
  • More efficient energy conversion

Unlike flexible solar panels, rigid ones are the standard kind. These rigid panels are attached with two legs on one side. This allows for the panel to tilt. In the winter months and during evenings the tilting lets the solar panel be more efficient at catching sunlight!

Both flexible and rigid panels are perfect for boondocking! Escape the ordinary RV life and go into uncharted territory with the help of this episode of the RVers!  And rent your RV through RVnGO.
