How to RV with Friends

Spending time with friends is always a fun time, but a night out getting food, or hanging out is very different than an RV trip with friends. Remember RV trips takes weeks sometimes even months of being with the same people. Hear the best tips for having a good time with friends without it being overbearing. The RV Geeks and the Mortons set out on an RV journey and let us know the best way to spend it with friends.

Traveling with friends can create some unique challenges, but with the Mortons and RV Geeks tips you can have a smooth RV adventure! The biggest problem for traveling with friends is figuring out locations aka where to camp. When you and your friends have different sized rigs its important to pick a campground where everyone can have room! The RV Geeks say the best way to RV with friends is to camp together but spend the journey there seperate. That way you can stop and see what you want to!

RVing with friends is also super fun. The Mortons share the added benefits of it:

  • Sharing the experiences
  • Added feeling of security in new places
  • Having your best friends as neighbors
  • Creating lifelong memories together

Differences in RV power systems

In this segment, Peter from the RV Geeks and Tom from the Mortons discuss the difference between DC and AC power in your RV. The DC power is known as more of a storage medium for the RV’s smaller amp items. These include things like the RV lights and radio. The DC system is only energy storage, so it will need to be recharged through things like solar panels, or the gas motor. The AC system is different and powers the higher amp items. These are things like the air conditioning, outlets in the RV and microwave. The AC power can also charge the DC system is needed. The AC system needs power to run, so it needs to be plugged into something like a generator or if you are camping at a full hookup site. This plugin can give power to the AC system and then also the DC system if needed.

How to Tow a Car

Rigmaster is the ultimate company for people looking to tow their car. With their expertise you can decide which way is best for your next RV journey. There are 3 different ways to tow a car, a flatbed trailer, towbar and a tow dolly. However not many use a flatbed trailer behind their RV because the extra axels and break system is expensive.

Tow dollies are for new car towers. With a tow dolly you can push your car up onto a pair of wheels, only your back tires will actually be moving. Tow dollies are great for cars that cannot be flat towed- some transmission systems aren’t built for it.

Tow bars are for more seasoned drivers and are the most popular. Also known as “flat towing” you can just attach a car to your RV with a tow bar and away you go! This is great for people on long journeys and for cars that are able to be flat towed!
