These campsites are a great option to take advantage of during the park’s high season, when many of the private campgrounds within the park are fully booked. 

If you choose to boondock near the park during the summer months, we strongly recommend you only do so if your RV is equipped with a reliable generator. That way, you’ll be able to keep cool during the day or even warm during cold desert nights.

While these are perfectly viable dispersed camping sites as well, their location to Interstate 10 makes them somewhat less peaceful or fully immersive than the spots further down the winding road.

Like the other campsites, visitors are required to obtain a camping permit from the Bureau of Land Management and adhere to the Leave No Trace principles. Campfires aren’t allowed at South Joshua Tree BLM; portable stoves are.
