Phoenix is one of the most RV friendly cities in the US, and Arizona has so many extraordinary places to visit that it’s a match made in longterm rental heaven! Because when there’s so much to do all around you, why limit yourself to just one place?
We’ve made a list of places to say, things to do throughout Arizona, and ways to keep on budget in our complete guide to monthly RV rentals in Phoenix below.
Where To Stay During A Monthly RV Rental In Phoenix
Covered Wagon RV Park
Directly north of Phoenix in neighboring Glendale, Covered Wagon RV Park provides plenty of green space to offset the Arizona desert. Rows of mature trees offer cover from the sun and a swimming pool will help keep you cool during your stay.
Each space features a concrete pad surrounded by grass patches to ensure that your stay is as immersive in nature as possible while being in an urban setting!
Covered Wagon RV park is pet friendly and supports full electric hookups.
Twin Palms RV Park
Twin Palms RV Park is a true urban camping experience in Mesa, just outside of Phoenix. The park itself is small, with less than 20 individual campsites. If you’re looking for a more peaceful experience within your campgrounds while still remaining in the city, Twin Palms is a great bet.
This isn’t to say that everything is completely quiet, however. Twin Palms is located on a main street, and thus gets a lot of foot traffic for surrounding shops. If you’re looking to stay somewhere that has easy access to getting around the city, Twin Palms has you covered.
White Tank Regional Park
Northwest of Phoenix, White Tank Regional Park is a true Southwestern camping experience. You’ll be sleeping under open skies at night and amongst the full flora of the desert— cacti included!
As such, don’t expect the luxury amenities of private RV resorts. Individual sites are on natural earth, with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills for convenience. The park provides showers and restrooms for guests. There are a number of hiking trails nearby to take advantage of, and the park is pet friendly.
White Tank Regional Park is an hour’s drive outside of Phoenix center.
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
On the other side of Phoenix to the northeast, McDowell Mountain Regional Park is an hour’s drive away and just as gorgeous. As with White Tank, at McDowell the wilderness is the main feature. Desert brush covers the landscape, and the open sky guarantees that you’ll have an unforgettable view at night.
How Much Does It Cost To Rent An RV Monthly in Phoenix?
Obviously, the Monthly RV Rental Cost will be different depending on City, the time of year, the individual RV Owner or Company and the class of RV, and the amenities offered.
So, how much to rent an RV? Here you go.
When we say no fees, Every website we have looked at charges a “service fee” or “reservation fee” or some variation of “usage fee” charged by the company in addition to the standard credit card processing fees. RVnGO does not do that. And the damage protection coverage is considerably better. The Host in Atlanta for this article is Ken, who owns On His Wings Travels LLC.. The base Monthly RV Rental rate charged is $5,700 for a 24 foot, 2018 Thor Freedom Elite. This RV sleeps 6 passengers and has 2 slideouts. The charges from the Host include a booking deposit of $300 and a security deposit of $1,500. He also has a $150 prep fee.
Damage protection is included at a nightly rate *not a daily rate. For the damage waiver fee, that is $800 for a $1 Million dollar liability coverage and up to $200,000 in damages coverage. You also have 24/7 roadside assistance which will be $360. Then there is the typical 3% credit card processing fee of $221. Don’t forget taxes… That will be $351 for that monthly RV rental in Phoenix.
As stated in the first section of this article, these rates vary depending on the Host and the type of RV and the amenities offered. When shopping, you will want to be sure to compare side by side.

The 4 Major Types Of RVs By Class
You can choose from four basic categories when selecting a Monthly RV rental in Phoenix.
Class A Motorhomes
These all-in-one RVs feature a kitchen, dining area, lounge, bedroom, bathroom, and shower. Some of the homes feature slide-outs that expand the interior living space when camping at Phoenix campsites.
Class B Motorhomes
Class B RVs or campervans come in full-size or extended models and feature a raised roof. Often, the dinette converts as a bed. This smaller camper is ideal for couples who don’t mind a cozier accommodation.
Class C Motorhomes
These RVs use a truck chassis and extended cab over the driver’s compartment. The homes feature a dining area, bathroom, and kitchen, and some feature separate bedrooms. A slide-out on the vehicle’s camber expands the living area. Usually, you can convert the sofa, dinette, and compartment above the driver to beds for sleeping.
Travel Trailer or Fifth Wheel
Spanning in size from 10 to 40 feet long, an RV rental Fifth Wheel or Travel Trailer requires a truck to pull it. The interior may vary based on the trailer’s size. To use this option for RV camping in Phoenix, you’ll need to make sure you have a vehicle that can tow the trailer. You will also have a different 5th Wheel or Toy Hauler Packing Checklist.

More RV Trips From Phoenix, Arizona
There are so many amazing things to see in Arizona that we couldn’t limit our trip to one place— or even one corner!
Sedona
Sedona is two hours north of Phoenix and well worth the trip. However, we wouldn’t necessarily classify it as a day trip because there’s so much to do! Famous for its stunning red rock formations, Sedona’s landscape is a dream destination for RV camping. Among its extraordinary sights are the famous towering summits of Cathedral Rock and Devil’s Bridge.
Downtown Sedona itself is a gorgeous rustic getaway. Filled with spas, fine dining, and art galleries, the city itself is a destination worth visiting in its own right.
Lake Havasu
One of Arizona’s most popular destinations, Lake Havasu is a glittering blue oasis in the desert. The vast waters of the lake span over 45 miles of iconic shoreline. Although any visit to Lake Havasu is dreamy, we highly recommend renting a boat if you’re able to. Boating through the lake and finding the secret coves along the park is a fabulous way to spend the day apart from the crowds.
Grand Canyon
America’s most visited National Park needs no introduction. The Grand Canyon is a once in a lifetime pilgrimage for many, and an absolute must-do experience if you have the time during your stay in Arizona. The drive from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon is about 3.5-4 hours long, so you may want to stay overnight in the area to properly get a head start on exploring the incredible formation in the morning.
Tonto National Forest
Although there are incredible views all through Arizona, you don’t have to travel far from Phoenix to find them all. Tonto National Forest is just outside of the city at only half an hour’s drive away.
In addition to amazing camping spots, a trip to Tonto includes long hikes through the pine trees, kayaking through the rivers (past Arizona’s famous wild horses), scaling mountains, and sleeping under the stars if you’re lucky.
Saguaro National Park
Though you’ll find the southwest’s iconic flora throughout the state, there’s no better place to see them than in Saguaro National Park.
The Saguaro Cacti of the park often grow stories high in some places. They litter the landscape, surrounded by mountains in the distance, to give it an almost otherworldly atmosphere. Standing amidst the dramatic vegetation, it’s easy to see why the natural features of the American Southwest have captivated people’s imaginations for centuries.
Saguaro National Park is a little under 2 hours drive from Phoenix.
